NURSERY NECESSITIES
Following is a list of suggested items you will need for the nursery:
Crib – Must meet safety standards approval by the American Society for Testing and Material (ASTM).
Crib mattress – Ensure a proper fit. You should be able to slide only one finger between the mattress and the rails.
Waterproof mattress pad
Crib sheets
Crib skirt
Bumper pad – The bumper pad should be firm, not pillow-like.
1 or 2 cotton receiving blankets
Blanket or sleep sack
Onesies play a major role in an infant’s early wardrobe. Their one-piece construction makes them easier to manage, and they stay in place on a squirming, wiggling baby. Plus, you have fewer pieces to contend with while dressing your baby.
Mobile – A musical mobile will soothe baby and also entertain when unattended.
Changing table – This can also be a changing dresser with pad on top. Be sure it has straps for securing the baby while changing.
Diaper pail – with deodorizer or a diaper disposal system such as The Diaper Genie®.
Rocker or glider – Pick a comfortable rocker or chair. You will be spending many hours with your baby for feedings or just rocking him/her to sleep. An ottoman is a nice addition but is not a necessity.
Nursing pillow
Infant monitor
Window treatments
Clothes hamper or basket
Lamp and night light
